Perfect timing! This morning's New York Times features Roberta Smith's review of the PRB exhibition at the National Gallery of Art. We're going to read and critique her review in class today. If anyone has the time or inclination to read it before we meet, here is the link: "The badness at its core is completely familiar; it permeates our lives."
Even if you find yourself disagreeing with her review, you've got to admit that Roberta Smith is a hell of a writer. Compare the quality and lucidty of her prose to any of the other reviews we've read, both from the English and American press.
