Wombat-mania in Victorian London
It would be a grand overstatement to say that there was a "wombat craze" throughout Victorian society, but in the subculture of the PRB, wombats were indeed quite the thing. Here's a link to an engaging lecture (text not video) on the subject. My wombat's name is Top Jr., a nod to Rossetti's famous wombat cheekily named after Morris.
